RPR Club Rides
Club Rides
Our formal club rides consist of 5 to 20 sleds with riders ranging in age from 15 to 70. No need to fear your performance level will be inadequate; our rides are geared for everyone.
For more information on any of our club rides, please email Marc Satre or call (970) 879-3062. In addition to these formal club rides, we often have smaller groups going out every weekend.
If you’re looking for a fun day with like-minded individuals, please come join us anytime!
We're gearing up for another fantastic winter!
Whether you enjoy the scenic trail ride, the powdery field, or the steep hill climb, there's something for everyone at each of our rides. The club rides are designed for all skill levels. Think our club rides are "too tame" or "not tame enough"? Get on the list and tell us your skill level. When a ride is planned with that skill level in mind, we'll contact you!
- Saturday, December 22, 2007 Christmas Cruiser to Diamond Park
- This is an easy-going ride for everyone. We'll meet up at Seedhouse Road where winter maintenance ends. Ed Mewborn will lead us to Diamond Park where we'll build a bonfire and have lunch. Bring your own, lunch, and as always, be prepared for adverse conditions.
- Sunday, January 13, 2008 Breakfast at SLO and ride to California Park
- We'll meet at SLO at 9 AM for breakfast, and leave from there and go through the park. I will stay on the road all the way to California Park for those who want to trail ride. Marc will bust loose and tree bash for those who want adventure. We'll all meet in California Park and ride back together.
- Saturday and Sunday, January 26-27, 2008 Overnighter to Encampment, Wyoming
- We will meet at the quarry parking lot above Columbine at 9:30 AM Saturday morning and ride to Encampment, WY. We spend the night at one of two Friendly bed and breakfasts, and take off Sunday morning for home. We will divide into two riding groups at the start of this ride. I will organize the trail group, with help I hope, and Marc will organize the "make your own trail" group. Marc's group should be prepared for "Satre Shortcuts". The two groups meet up at Hog Park Reservoir (if the Good Lord's will and the creek don't rise) and finish the road ride together into Encampment.
This is a great ride. Make your reservations early. Places to stay in Encampment. Spirit West River Lodge 1-888-289-8321 or Grand and Sierra 1-307-327-5200.
- Saturday, February 2, 2008 Soldier's Family Ride
- CSA would like to see a statewide effort to reach out to a family to provide a fun, safe day on the snow, and then send home a photograph that can be mailed to the soldier overseas. If we can find a Routt County candidate we'll take the family to Little Red Park to play and have a weenie roast. Meet at the quarry parking lot above Columbine at 10:00 AM. We should be done by 2 PM. Contact Chuck Vale 879-3850 for info or if you want to help.
- Saturday thru Monday (President's Weekend), February 16-18, 2008 Black Mesa Lodge, Crawford, Colorado
- This ride is highly recommended by The Craig Club who is also there this weekend, and there are five rooms left for our club to fill. The rooms that are left use a common shower room, one for the guys and one for the gals. (This could be an adventure) The price of the room includes meals and Linda Watson from Craig says the food is great. Marc and I just booked our room so there are four left. Call for reservations 1-970-270-3511.
- Saturday and Sunday, March 1-2, 2008 Steamboat and Craig Clubs Girl's Ride, separate Boy's Ride and Couples Ride
- Saturday March 1, Steamboat and Craig Clubs Girl's Ride and separate Boy's Ride.
The amount of trail and off-trail riding depends on rider's ability and snow conditions. Husbands can trailer and help the girls get their machines going on the trail. Then they go on their separate ride and we meet back at the trailhead when the rides are over.
Single gals can get ready on their own or beg help from others. Those that can and want to will stay overnight and go on a couples and single gal ride on Sunday.
1. All riders must belong to either the Steamboat or Craig Club. The boys who ride either Saturday and/or Sunday are limited to either husbands or significant others of the girls who ride the Saturday Girls’ Ride.
2. All riders will take care of their lunches, whether riding 1 or 2 days. Those Steamboat and Craig riders who want will eat dinner at some Craig restaurant Saturday evening.
3. Steamboat riders staying over to ride Sunday will make their own overnight arrangements.
4. Presently there are 7-9 Craig gals and husbands interested in the 2 day rides. Please let me know by Wed., Feb. 27 the numbers of Steamboat people who plan to come.
5. Both rides will leave from the Craig Middle School (old High School), North Parking lot. Yampa Ave (Hwy. 13) and 10th St.
Saturday rides leave at 9:30 am. This gives you guys a little longer to get to Craig. We will then all go together to the Trailhead.
Sunday ride leaves at 9:00 am, as you will already be in Craig. We will then all go together to the Trailhead.
Questions phone either Karin Satre - (970) 879-3062 or Jenny Tonso - (970) 824-5821
- Saturday and Sunday, March 15-16, 2008 Saratoga/Snowy Range
- We will trailer to Saratoga and meet our local guide, Leo Yokum, Saturday at 9 AM for a day n the Snowy Range. Saturday evening, there are several restaurants to choose from, a funky bar or two to drink in, and the Hobo Pool hot springs to soak in. We've planned a ride for Sunday morning also. Should be fun. Call for reservations. Saratoga Inn 307-326-5281, Riviera Lodge 307-326-5651, Hacienda 307-326-5751, The Wolf 307-326-5525
- Friday thru Sunday, March 28-30, 2008 Grand Mesa Lodge
- We take 3 days for this ride because it's a three to four hour drive but also because the riding is great. Ken and Connie Simpson, owners of the Grand Mesa Lodge, allow us to use the conference room for potluck supper Friday and Saturday night. There is no restaurant on sight but there is a general store and the cabins have kitchens. Book your cabin now. 1-800-551-6372
You may have noticed this schedule lacks day rides. That's because I included only the "organized" preplanned club rides. Every weekend we ride somewhere. Any given weekend you want to ride call Marc Satre or Chuck Vale or Mark Hartless or George Kostiuk. I guarantee you, you'll find folks to ride with.
Choose one or choose them all, but please come ride with us. For information on what to bring or how to pack or anything at all, call me Karin Satre, 970-879-3062 or 970-879-8178. See ya on the trail.
